Sentura Magellan is an upscale, large resort with open views of the South China Sea. The grounds have a Yacht Club, residential towers, the resort, and a new section of residential towers under construction.
It is conveniently a 10 minute taxi ride away from the airport but not in line with the airplanes overhead.
The resort has a large open air lobby that has a lobby bar that overlooks the pool and water.
On one side of the pool is the kids club, jungle gym, and cafe. The other side is more for the parents, with a fantastic cocktail bar and elegant, Italian restaurant. That is also where the breakfast restaurant is.
The pool is large, and at the time, had a blow up slide on one side with many kids playing.
Behind the pool is a beautiful, wooden walkway that connects to the small beach and little cove. There is a shack that provides life vests and goggles for either the pool or cove. You can snorkel and see a variety of brightly colored reef fish. The walkway leads from the resort to the Yacht Club pier. Our 2 year old loved the pier. We saw sea urchins, reef fish, and huge clams. You can schedule boat tours from here.
Additional tours can be scheduled at the main resort lobby reception, which also conveniently provides currency exchange.
Transport
- It is 5-10 minutes away from airport
- Option 1: Work with resort to schedule pickup for you. As westerners, we found the process unusual. The resort states their ground agent requires copy of passport and credit card to schedule the transfer. It is 40 ringgit per person. It is a coach so like a normal transport for children to sit on lap. The copies are required 3 days in advance.
- Option 2: (what we did) because we ran out of time and found the request risky, we waited to schedule a taxi at the airport. The taxi stand is located at the immigration level of departure (level 1) toward the middle. Our transfer cost 30 rimfit total in cash. Bring currency that can be exchanged at the airport (next to taxi stand inside). There was no child seat/booster seat option! It is a risk but since we arrived at 7pm and took it. There was no traffic.
